The Bakehouse Art
Complex celebrated its first 2014-2015 Season Second Friday Art Walk with the
openings of two extraordinary new shows, a one-night-only performance by
Jamilah Sabur, open studios of Bakehouse Resident Artists, plus food truck,live music by The Moon Caravan and more.
The first exhibit, Sway Away, at the Audrey Love Gallery, features two- and three- dimensional artworks
representing the artists' interpretation and capture of movement and was
selected from a national open call, curated by Justin H. Long. And the second
sample, Convoluted Shape by Jamilah Sabur at the Swenson Gallery, studies the
interdisciplinary uses of the body as a vehicle for expression. This shows
opened with a multi-channel video installation and one-night-only performance
encompassing the interplay of inwardness and the second role of the audience
through movement, concealment, obstacles and physical limitations as well as
spontaneous and imperfect, sometimes comic, unrehearsed movements.
Both exhibit are open to the public,
until the end of the month and mid-October respectively. If you are in the

Complejo de Arte Bakehouse celebro en su temporada 2014-2015, su primera “Caminate
de Arte del Segundo Viernes” con la apertura de dos extraordinarias muestras, presentación
única de la artista Jamilah Sabur, studios abiertos de los artistas del
Bakehouse, mas food trucks, música y mucha entretención.
La priemra muestra, Sway Away, en la
Galeria Audrey Love, presenta trabajos bidimensionales y tridimensionales que
representan el punto de vista del movimiento de los artistas y fue seleccionado
en llamada nacional, la cual fue curada por Justin H Long. La segunda muestra
de Jamilah Sabur, en la Galeria Swenson, estudia de manera interdisciplinaria
el uso del cuerpo humano como vehículo de expresión. Este show abre sus puertas
con una instalación en video por una noche únicamente, la que invito a la
audiencia a participar interactivamente a través del movimiento, los obstáculos
y las limitaciones físicas creando movimientos imperfectos y algunas veces cómicos.
Ambas muestras estarán abiertas al público
en el complejo de arte, hasta finales del mes de septiembre y mediados del mes
de octubre, respectivamente. Así que si se encuentra cerca del Bakehouse, pase
